Good morning to everyone, I am an Italian translator who is struggling with the translation of a crime fiction novel from English into Italian. The reason why I am struggling is because - as you can guess - the Italian police system is way different from the English one, so I was wondering if you could help me out here. I don't understand what a superintendent actually does, what are his\her responsibility? Is it a prestigious position? Same for the position of Sergeant: what he\she does? I understood it is a lower rank compared to the superintendent, but is there a huge difference in ranks between the two? And could you explain also to me which one is the most prestigious position in the UK police system? I am truly sorry to bother you with all these questions but all the material I've found on the Internet is quite confusing for somebody who came from another country, therefore you were my most viable option. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide, Alessia
Hi! New to the forum, so I hope I've got this in the right place! Got my day one next week and I'm relatively confident about it, but I'm less so for if I get through and move on to the day two with the fitness tests. The pushing/pulling are fine, but does anyone know how intense the running is? Also, not the smallest person, so are they massively strict if you're a bit on the larger side? Cheers in advance!
PO_Katie posted a topic in Non-Police News & ChatDear Forum Members, Police Oracle are looking at sending out a Christmas good wishes message to as many police officers in England and Wales this year and are looking at ways we could do this. This may take the form of an envelope with a greetings message and possible 'presents' inside. One of the possible way of getting this distributed is through the forum members. The idea we are considering is putting an envelope in the correspondence tray of each of the officers who work at police stations. This is where you come in.... If you were willing and able to assist, we would send a single package of enough envelopes to you for each officer at your station. We would then ask that you pop one of these (unnamed) envelopes into each officers' post trays. Should we take you up on your offer, we will send you a little thank you from PatrolStore. If you can assist with the above, please can you drop an e-mail with your details, including station and the approximate number of police officers based at your station. Please email James Deller: firstname.lastname@example.org
