    Opinions welcome

Depends your role / Force. If HO then no, hand your ticket in, wait for the move to section/NPT/patrol. If MDP /PSNI and its part of the role requirement, then possible. Talk with your Fed Rep or someone from PFOA soonest. Handed my AFO ticket in 10 years ago, best decision I ever made. Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk

  5. I'm in Cheshire , so whilst I don't know GMP too well, I know there are loads of OCGs, plus plenty of Cross border work that goes on virtually every night. Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk

    Paying into Police pension

Jenny, as I understand it (ive got 28 1/2 in so not that far behind) absolutely nothing, its in effect dead money. I would speak with Fed and pensions to confirm, but once you have 30 years pensionable service thats it, you cant get anything more. Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk

    Where have they gone

I think one of the problems, was in my view, over about the past 2 years or so, this and the other now linked forums, saw an explosion of new members all asking the same questions around recruitment and CKP etc. This made it a very boring and less useful forum. Things seem to of moved on a bit now. I don't even access any of the forums via a desktop/laptop any more, just use Apps such as Tapatalk, maybe some of the older members find this a hassle too far. Damage Caused By 'Big Red Key'

I cant recall if its arrested or charged but if so the owner/landlord pays if no arrests Police will end up footing the bill via a claim for damages. Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk

Indeed for long drawn out slow time work but 8pm on a Saturday evening? And like you say "Information is raggy around the edges.." Don't fancy walking into court with that. Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk

    Learner Drivers

The Motorway aspect is only to allow them to learn with a qualified instructor with dual controls. Not everywhere in the country has ready access to the Motorway Network. Eg Dyfed Powis, Western North Wales, Scotish Highlands. As for restricting vehicles, its already a farce with the Motorcycle categories and determining output at the roadside. Eg more or less than 35kw ??? How do you determine a car with so many variants within even a single make group eg Corsa, Focus etc Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk

    Vehicle Stop lights

Found it : If you are familiar with ADR regulations, these are laid out in a similar way As with all EU regs its not readily readable : The key document appears to be E/ECE/324 E/ECE/TRANS/505, Addendum 47, Regulation No. 48, Revision 6, dated June 2010. ‘Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to the installation of lighting and light-signalling devices’ and, deep within it is contained the following definition: 2.28. "Emergency stop signal" means a signal to indicate to other road users to the rear of the vehicle that a high retardation force has been applied to the vehicle relative to the prevailing road conditions. The document goes on to explain that it must be amber or red and that it must be a flashing light, and the automatic application of the hazard lights after an emergency stop is also described. Further investigation reveals that details for the systems are laid out as follows. 6.23. EMERGENCY STOP SIGNAL 6.23.1. Presence Optional The emergency stop signal shall be given by the simultaneous operation of all the stop or direction-indicator lamps fitted as described in paragraph 6.22.7. [followed by details as to the position and number of the lights] All the lamps of the emergency stop signal shall flash in phase at a frequency of 4.0 ± 1.0 Hz. However, if any of the lamps of the emergency stop signal to the rear of the vehicle use filament light sources the frequency shall be 4.0 +0.0/-1.0 Hz. The emergency stop signal shall operate independently of other lamps. The emergency stop signal shall be activated and deactivated automatically. The emergency stop signal shall be activated only when the vehicle speed is above 50 km/h and the braking system is providing the emergency braking logic signal defined in Regulations Nos. 13 and 13-H. The emergency stop signal shall be automatically deactivated if the emergency braking logic signal as defined in Regulations Nos. 13 and 13-H is no longer provided or if the hazard warning signal is activated. and if you need a bedtime reading its all here : https://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/trans/main/wp29/wp29regs/R048rev6am1_e.pdf
