Canadian police officers in the UK?

Hi Loki, like rikshawallah i'm staggered that someone from an awesome country like Canada would consider coming to this overcrowded dull country of ours but hey ho we all have our reasons and circumstances. Re your question due to government budget cuts police forces up and down the UK have not been recruiting (well mass recruiting) for the last 5 years and it will go on this way for the next 5. What i recommend is to read up on the Special Constables (http://www.policecouldyou.co.uk/special-constables/index.html) What the Special Constables are is they are ordinary men & women who give up 4 hours of their time every week to volunteer with the police. You have the same powers and uniform etc as the regular full time police officers. FYI also as far as i'm aware the police only recruit now through the Special Constables and PCSO's. At least that is how it is here in Greater Manchester. Good luck.

    Special Constabulary (Specials)

Thanks skydiver. I have read about Special Constables who were accepted at the age of 20 possibly 19 so i guess this shows young age may not be a impediment. But anyway i'm looking to be employed soon and then i'll have a long think about whether i am ready or not to apply.
  3. Hi, I am a British Asian of 21 years of age and i am seriously considering applying with the GMP (i live in the Greater Manchester region) for a role as a Special Constable. My personal background is i was a youth worker assistant (unpaid and voluntary) from 2012 to 2014. I've just completed 2 weeks with Morrisons and i am soon to be employed with Asda. I'm wondering whether my young age and lack of a work history so to say will affect my chances of being accepted as a Special Constable?
