Hello I am not a police officer, hence my login Name.

This site seems a good one. I may continue to use it to ask various questions if that is OK with you.

Thanks to all.

Welcome to the forum, a garge sergeant is a sergeant who works on the traffic department.

A snout has told me he's got a set of nostrils, so go and get a W so we can spin his drum to see if he's got any monkey gear - The Sweeney.

Hello again OldBillPlod. Thanks for telling me the answer.

I was under the impression until now that a garage Sergeant was the guy who filled the police vehicles up with petrol and checked oil, etc.

Silly me!

Not in our force, we do those menial tasks ourselves. You can't expect
highly trained vehicle technicians to mess about with trivia like fuel
or lubrication

The basic mission for which the police exist is to prevent crime and disorder.

Sorry - forgot to mention we're not allowed to change vehicle light
bulbs in case we scratch our lickle hands on the nasty sharp metal or
burn them on the nasty hot engine
