  1. Indeed for long drawn out slow time work but 8pm on a Saturday evening? And like you say "Information is raggy around the edges.." Don't fancy walking into court with that. Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk
  2. The Motorway aspect is only to allow them to learn with a qualified instructor with dual controls. Not everywhere in the country has ready access to the Motorway Network. Eg Dyfed Powis, Western North Wales, Scotish Highlands. As for restricting vehicles, its already a farce with the Motorcycle categories and determining output at the roadside. Eg more or less than 35kw ??? How do you determine a car with so many variants within even a single make group eg Corsa, Focus etc Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk
  3. Found it : If you are familiar with ADR regulations, these are laid out in a similar way As with all EU regs its not readily readable : The key document appears to be E/ECE/324 E/ECE/TRANS/505, Addendum 47, Regulation No. 48, Revision 6, dated June 2010. ‘Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to the installation of lighting and light-signalling devices’ and, deep within it is contained the following definition: 2.28. "Emergency stop signal" means a signal to indicate to other road users to the rear of the vehicle that a high retardation force has been applied to the vehicle relative to the prevailing road conditions. The document goes on to explain that it must be amber or red and that it must be a flashing light, and the automatic application of the hazard lights after an emergency stop is also described. Further investigation reveals that details for the systems are laid out as follows. 6.23. EMERGENCY STOP SIGNAL 6.23.1. Presence Optional The emergency stop signal shall be given by the simultaneous operation of all the stop or direction-indicator lamps fitted as described in paragraph 6.22.7. [followed by details as to the position and number of the lights] 6.23.7.1. All the lamps of the emergency stop signal shall flash in phase at a frequency of 4.0 ± 1.0 Hz. 6.23.7.1.1. However, if any of the lamps of the emergency stop signal to the rear of the vehicle use filament light sources the frequency shall be 4.0 +0.0/-1.0 Hz. 6.23.7.2. The emergency stop signal shall operate independently of other lamps. 6.23.7.3. The emergency stop signal shall be activated and deactivated automatically. 6.23.7.3.1. The emergency stop signal shall be activated only when the vehicle speed is above 50 km/h and the braking system is providing the emergency braking logic signal defined in Regulations Nos. 13 and 13-H. 6.23.7.3.2. The emergency stop signal shall be automatically deactivated if the emergency braking logic signal as defined in Regulations Nos. 13 and 13-H is no longer provided or if the hazard warning signal is activated. and if you need a bedtime reading its all here : https://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/trans/main/wp29/wp29regs/R048rev6am1_e.pdf
  4. These flashing type brake lights are called amongest other things "Adaptive Brake lights" The adaptive brake lights warn vehicles behind by flashing rapidly in the event of sharp braking. The hazard warning lights are also activated automatically in emergency braking situations. In this way, following traffic can react more quickly and the risk of an accident can be reduced. The adaptive brake lights are activated in the event of sharp braking from speeds above 50 km/h, for example, because Brake Assist (BAS) was triggered. Drivers behind are warned in good time by the rapidly flashing brake lights and can therefore react more quickly. The hazard warning lights activate automatically when the vehicle slows from a speed of over 70 km/h to a standstill during emergency braking. These will be legal and EU compliant but i cant find the type approval, nor can i find the deceleration rate for them to become active In reality is it any different to what brake lights would show under cadence braking as taught under the old Roadcraft manual ??

  6. Sooner the Licence fee is scrapped the better. On average, i have worked out, i watch less than 1 hour of BBC broadcasts a week. I pay for what i want through the Sky packages i choose to purchase/subscribe to.
  7. Is the reduction in Numbers also linked to the fact that most drivers caught for the 1st first are also offered an education course instead of a Fine & points ?? I see this option has been pushed more since "Austerity" due the fact that the force get a fee for each "Referal" In the North West area a few years ago, get had specific form to fill in when a LGV/PCV driver was caught on a Mobile phone, refering the matter to the TraffIc Commisioner (Mre Beverley Bell - Current STC) who, regardless of what action the police took, would happily suspend a Drivers Vocational licence for 28 days to educate them.
  8. Also, why are Met not re DNAing Keith Blacklocks PSU overalls, and other evidence from that Horible night on the BWF estate ??? Asking for a friend
  9. The Pilot was abandonned in Cheshire Last August (2015), having only ran for about 6 months. My oppo was on it on the basic level, and it fell down the officers in specialist roles (Such as RPU) couldnt tick all the boxes at a basic level, as there was stuff like "deal with Volume crime" and similar stuff, and we dont know of anyone who did the Advanced level which stuff like "Works with No Supervision" etc which is what RPU do most of the day.
  10. About as long as England remain in the Euros!!!! Sent from the dark side of a Tachograph!!!
  11. Read elsewhere today(not a News outlet, but Private Met Pol FB page) that out of the 600 the Met wants, they have only had 68 applications. Given the current suspicion about the IPCC etc, I guess many who would of applied in the past are now saying "Sod that for a game." As an ex AFO there is now no way, short of a Zombie Apocalypse, I will carry a police firearm arm again. This also includes Taser. Sent from the dark side of a Tachograph!!!
