Please forgive me, but I'm doing some research for a novel, and since I currently live in South America, I can't just walk into my local station and ask my questions. Hopefully someone here can give me a pointer or two.
The novel, working title "A Run for your Money", involves the protagonist investigating a British citizen from London who is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking in Peru. The protagonist is a 31 year-old female Detective Constable working for a Metropolitan Police narcotics team. First of all, I need a request to come in from overseas for the Met's cooperation in the investigation (from Interpol? the U.S.? Peru?). Then I need to get the Detective Constable sent to Peru... My questions are, how would/could this conceivably happen? What would the procedures and the people involved be?
