  1. Pension Challenge

thanks for the updates, the Gov & Forces need to make it clearer about the issue of retiring before 55 and having at least 25yrs service. I now understand the differing rules for actuarial reduction from either 60 or SPA depending on when you take retirement.

Ok, this is getting really confusing. You say as clear as a bell, however both the gov website and several others allude to the fact that should you retire before reaching the magic age of 55, you will not have access to the 2015 pension till spa. I thought that was the case given by the fed to suggest a small victory in this matter, the fact that they got agreement to reduce the npa from 60 to 55, if you are saying that you can retire at any stage, then just pick up the pension at 55, doesn't that fly in the face of this? Not wishing to be combative, just very confused after all I have read in this matter. This is a direct quote from the pol fed on this matter "However, you cannot retire with a pension under the 2015 Scheme before you reach NMPA other than on the grounds of ill-health (see section 6 ‘Compulsory ill-health retirement and early payment of deferred pension of ill-health grounds’)." I understand nmpa to be 55?

very long time lurker, and concerned new 2015 pension member... until i read a post by Cheese talking about gaining access to the 2015 pension after 55 i was under the impression that you had to work UP TO 55 to gain access albeit reduced actuarially. quoted from the .gov website "The Normal Pension Age in the 2015 scheme is age 60. However, police officers will be able to start to draw their pension, with a reduction, if they retire after reaching minimum pension age (55)." To me the key phrase is AFTER. am i missing something? because my force is advising that an attempt to leave before 55 will delay any 2015 pension drawdown until national pension age.. apologies if this has been done to death elsewhere.
