  1. I have attended a number of them, including a few "specials" which are enhanced examinations. Please do park the whole squeamishness issue and treat this as what it is. This is a golden opportunity to learn some very interesting things while being lectured by an expert in the pathology field. Don't squander it by worrying and focus on the learning you can achieve. 2. Highly unlikely Tommo, the bosses like good PR as much as anyone else . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. We all know how they got through the selection process. Maturity, capability and a track record of ethical behaviour are no longer requirements. I don't say this with any cynicism- these qualities have been deprioritised. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. It would be much better for the response officers to have the experience of the specialist , but not the specialist to have the experience of the response officer..... there is no point in arguing this... this silo mentality is part of what actually is wrong with the job. The lack of versatility. If numbers are going to continue to be cut then more people need to hold a broader range of skills . The specialise and deskill road is what has led us to have leaders that dong understand what they are asking. And now the solution is to parachute people in who know even less in the ever enduring quest to pursue blind unplanned change. Thank god someone came up with evidenced based Policing in the COP and that the idea is taking root.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. And if they don't, then no doubt we will sadly have to put services out to tender to companies who can..... The privatisation march takes another step. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. My father left a CID office to voluntarily go to a rural post and promptly died aged 42. There is a lot to be said for that study OAH... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Different forces utilise different models and different distributions of workload and staff. However as much as you want to complicate it, it comes down to how big is your piece of toast and how much butter do you have? If you have insufficient you just don't cover the toast. 8. So when they are studying and training to gain that nationally recognised qualification, do you not see them gaining or achieving anything? When they are investigating serious crimes do you not perceive any extra responsibility? I can understand a bit of banter but why mock and run down someone else's achievements after they've worked hard to obtain them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Other officers have told me it had an impact on them.... basically you will find your retirement date get further away or your benefits reduce.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I'd like to... but my respect for human life means not until I've got the prerequisite surgical training and experience to do so. But then that's our point isn't it?[emoji28] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ok. I am aware that there are people out there who can remove brain tumours without killing the patient. I know that I don't know how to do that..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. "So you think that everything is rosy then?" This is a poor tactic... change my opinion to something clearly unreasonable then shoot it down as such... No. Please aim at my opinions not the ones you assign me. Clearly I don't think everything is rosy. I haven't seen plenty of evidence. I've seen Hillsborough and Lawrence. Statistics? Do I really need to explain why crime statistics are worthless? The Police admit they are, the HO admit they are... Just manipulated numbers that serve to support whatever argument whoever using them is making. Let's look at something real and current perhaps?- CPIRA attacks in NI - daily occurrences. PSNI are buckling. Public order and atrocity in France? Now they are our closest neighbours... let's compare our performance to them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Oh ... I'm Flat Foot now... as well as John and HMS.... I appear to be suffering from MPD.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. RM, My perception is that it is YOU that is moaning things aren't good enough and YOU that wants to use 20 or more year old analysis to justify changing the organisation as it is in the current day. It appears you have no current evidence. I and most others are entirely up for change, but on the basis of evidence. The thing is when you experiment with life saving services and you get it wrong people die. Just evidence base it and present your case and you will perhaps get more takers.
