This section explains the various elements of your police career. From probationary training to options available to you throughout your service.

Policing is an exciting and rewarding career. With no two days being the same it is easy to understand why so many people are applying to join.

An intense Probationer Training Programme awaits you when you join any of the police forces in the UK, a scheme covering your first 2 years service. Within those 2 years you will be taught all areas of criminal and traffic law, as well as police procedure and many other skills required to be a Police Constable. You will have the opportunity to undergo training courses teaching you many different skills including advanced driving, enabling you to travel to emergency incidents using audible warning equipment & emergency warning lights (blues & twos).

After successful completion of your probationary period you will be able to apply for specialist posts, Armed Response or Road Policing to name but two. Or if you are one destined for the top, there is a promotion ladder just waiting to be climbed.
